Processing and Finishing possibilities

Can advertising banners be used outdoors? What are hemstitching, piping and eyelets? What are the advantages of the different types of finish?
These questions and other questions about the production of advertising banners will be clarified below. For easier comprehension, we have sample photos for you.

Processing and finishing according to intended use

As advertising media all advertising banners are finished after printing for their respective use.

For outdoor use the standard finish are hems and eyelets. For this purpose, the base material is doubled in the perimeter of the banner. This is done by folding over and heat-sealing the edge or by heat-sealing a textile band on the back. In this reinforced area metal or plastic eyelets of different diameters are driven in for mounting with hooks, expander bands, zip ties etc. according to the customer’s wishes or the intended use. The spacing between these eyelets depends on the size of the eyelets or banner used.

Further options for a customised finish are hemstitches, e.g. for inserting ropes, scaffolding or other holding bars. These are made at the top edge of the banner for hanging, at the bottom edge of the banner for tensioning the banner. A very special application is clamping in specially designed clamping frame systems, usually made of aluminium or galvanised steel tubing. The banners are then equipped with so-called piping on the four edges. These are plastic tubes with a thickness of approx. 6-12 mm, which are inserted into the specially heat-sealed small hemstitch around the advertising banner. The frame systems with specially equipped metal channels then take up this piping and thus form a solid, resilient connection between advertising banner and fastening system.

For indoor use, advertising banners can also be used cut to size only, without reinforced edges. Due to the lack of atmospheric influences, the use of eyelets for mounting purposes is not necessary. Hemstitches sufficiently meet all the requirements for indoor mounting. Hook-and-loop tapes (also known as Velcro tapes) glued or sewn on the back can also serve as a wall mounting, e.g. on exhibition stands. Indoors, always make sure that B1 certified (flame-retardant) banners are used.

Thus, these special and variable advertising media can now be found throughout the retail industry, at events, in sports advertising, in the construction sector, at trade fair stands or exhibitions and many other areas as long-term advertising media permanently installed in specially produced frame systems on façades, bridges or other buildings. But also, freestanding or mobile in vehicle use, the advantages of this medium can hardly be topped. Weather resistance, UV-resistance, B1 fire protection, long service life, unlimited design variations as well as cost-effective production are the reasons for the triumphal march of this medium in the advertising industry. A fast pace of life and a maximum of informational content are indispensable in the advertising industry today. The digitally printed and individually designed advertising banner or advertising panel fulfils these requirements economically and perfectly.

Large-scale advertising in modern business has become a tool of an optical attack strategy on the visual human perception in urban as well as rural areas in all variations of technical solvability and has not lost any of its appeal even alongside the animated flood of information on screens.
